Timor-Leste Scholarship Students in Brunei

Two Timor-Leste students – Natalino De Jesus, 18, and Atanacio Afonso, 25 – arrived in Brunei Darussalam yesterday morning to further their studies in the Sultanate thanks to scholarships by Daikyo Industrial Gas and Equipment Unippesoal Lda. De Jesus said he is happy to be in Brunei to further his studies. “We are thankful to Daikyo Industrial Gas and Equipment to build our skills in hospitality. This is a rare opportunity and we will do our best in our studies,” he said. Afonso said it is his first time in Brunei and is excited to be in the Sultanate to study hospitality. “We treasure this opportunity thanks to scholarships by Daikyo Industrial Gas and Equipment,” he said. Spouse of Timor-Leste Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Ana Guterres, Daikyo Industrial Gas Sdn Bhd Managing Director Hung Ah Hing and spouse as well as Laksamana College of Business (LCB) and Daikyo Industrial Gas officials welcomed the students at the Brunei International Airport.  The students will be taking BTEC International Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality at LCB. Open Day Offers Discounts for Returning and Prospective Students

A series of discounts designed to make education more accessible to students were among the highlights of the Laksamana College of Business’ (LCB) admission and open day, which ends today, at its premises. Graduates Look Ahead to Promising Career Paths

The spouse of the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Brunei Darussalam Ana Paula Maria Mok Guterres expressed gratitude as one of the graduates receiving her certificate from Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh at Laksamana College of Business (LCB) graduation ceremony yesterday. “I can honestly say that this course has not only taught us the technical skills to create stunning pastries, but transformed us into passionate artisans,” she said. She called on her fellow graduates to hold on to the lessons, to never lose their passion and seize opportunities to work. Meanwhile, 36-year-old Haji Muhammad Fahmi bin Lasa, a graduate in Masters of Management, said the journey has been tough, taking part-time studies from Diploma to Masters while working in the public sector. “It was really hard. I even took a personal loan to support my education. Along the way, I didn’t just learn how to tackle challenges; I also saw how LCB shaped who I am today,” he said. 529 Graduates Feted

Laksamana College of Business (LCB) held a graduation ceremony for 529 graduates, who completed their programmes, at the Songket Ballroom of The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday. The ceremony honoured the achievements of students from various programmes, including those affiliated with the University of Essex, University of Chester, Pearson BTEC, Kensington College of Business (KCB) and City and Guilds. Graduates comprised those in Foundation Law, Airline Hospitality Business (AHB), Diploma in Culinary Arts, Computing, Business, Tourism and Hospitality from University of Essex and University of Chester degree programmes. This year’s graduation saw 21 first class graduates from University of Essex and University of Chester degree programmes. LCB and KCB Director and Principal Ian Pirie; Abdul Razak Holdings Director Haji Suhaimi Besar and LCB Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Principal S Sivarajah were also in attendance. Pirie in his speech said that the success of the college would not be possible without the support of the government of Brunei, the British government as well as the university partners, Brunei partners and staff, parents and students of the college.
