Graduates Look Ahead to Promising Career Paths

The spouse of the Ambassador of Timor-Leste to Brunei Darussalam Ana Paula Maria Mok Guterres expressed gratitude as one of the graduates receiving her certificate from Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh at Laksamana College of Business (LCB) graduation ceremony yesterday.

“I can honestly say that this course has not only taught us the technical skills to create stunning pastries, but transformed us into passionate artisans,” she said.

She called on her fellow graduates to hold on to the lessons, to never lose their passion and seize opportunities to work.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old Haji Muhammad Fahmi bin Lasa, a graduate in Masters of Management, said the journey has been tough, taking part-time studies from Diploma to Masters while working in the public sector.

“It was really hard. I even took a personal loan to support my education. Along the way, I didn’t just learn how to tackle challenges; I also saw how LCB shaped who I am today,” he said.

With the knowledge he gained, he runs three businesses.

International student Ayoung Lee was also selected to deliver a speech at the ceremony.

“My perseverance and hard work have not let me down, bringing me here today as a first-class graduate. This achievement is not mine alone and I am thankful for the support from the lecturers, staff, and course mates at LCB,” she said. Meanwhile, Muhammad Amiruddin bin Muhammad Farid said he plans to complete his three-year degree in LCB and in business management and hopes to see himself in finding a secure job and study at the same time.

Another Korean graduate, Minseo who started an airline hospitality business course at Kensington College of Business and continued the business management degree course at University of Essex, was able to develop professional manners by participating in various activities such as an internship at Royal Brunei Airlines.

“Initially, it was difficult to adapt due to language and culture differences, however, being adaptable to a new working and living environment is an opportunity for development,” she said.

“I’m expecting to join Cathay Pacific Airline in September to build my career. I’m trying to move to the next level,” Minseo said. – Lyna Mohamad
