Inspiring next generations of chefs with books

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Brunei, the Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam donated a collection of books on Philippine cuisine to The Culinary School, Laksamana College of Business (LCB). Ambassador of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam Marian Jocelyn R Tirol-Ignacio said, “Beyond the kitchen, these books symbolise something greater. They represent the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Brunei – a friendship rooted in mutual respect, understanding, and a shared love for good food.” She shared, “These books are bridges that connect us in a shared journey of discovery and friendship.” She hopes the books will inspire future generations of chefs to push the boundaries of creativity, preserve traditions of the past and spread the flavours of the Philippines to every corner of the world. LCB Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Principal Dr Sivarajah Subramaniam expressed appreciation for the donation and said it will strengthen relations and promote cultural exchange with the Filipino community. Another feather in college’s cap

Laksamana College of Business (LCB) achieved a milestone yesterday with a corporate singing ceremony at its premises with Netcom Computer House and Kristal Media Sdn Bhd as its new corporate partners. Signing on behalf of LCB was Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Principal Sivarajah Subramaniam while on behalf of Netcom Computer House was its Managing Director Vincent Goh, and General Manager Jenny Malai Ali signed on behalf of Kristal Media Sdn Bhd. The deputy principal said the signing marked the formalisation of two partnerships. Netcom Computer House’s managing director said the partnership between Netcom and LCB set as a strategic collaboration that aims to enhance the learning experience and career opportunities for the students. “We believe that by working together, we can provide students with the best IT solutions that will enhance their learning outcomes and skills,” said Goh. He also added that the partnership will create a synergy that will elevate that education and technology standards in the Sultanate. Meanwhile, Kristal Media general manager said the partnership will benefit both parties in terms of ideation, creativity, and enhanced employability.

Building global connections through study tour

Laksamana College of Business (LCB) held a closing ceremony at its premise for a study tour with 45 Guangxi University of Finance and Economics students from China on Tuesday. The students received certificates and exclusive LCB merchandise as a token of appreciation. The 10-day programme, which began on January 15, aimed at fostering cultural exchange, academic growth, and international collaboration. The students were exposed to an introduction to ASEAN, local museums, and attended lectures on global financing and digital marketing. Interactive sessions, led by faculty members, were held to enhance critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership skills essential for navigating global challenges. The students shared their joy in meeting Brunei youth and their appreciation for the opportunity to learn Brunei’s rich culture. Certificate Presentation Ceremony

778 Laksamana College of Business students yesterday received their certificates at the Certificate Presentation Ceremony for 2020, 2021 and 2022. The ceremony took place at a hotel in Gadong. The certificates were presented by Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, Minister of Education. 339 Degree programme students received certificates awarded by the University of Chester, Pearson BTEC, KCB and City and Guilds. In the morning, 439 students received their certificates. The certificates were presented by Awang Aliuddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Core Education at the Ministry of Education. The ceremony aimed to appreciate the hard work and challenges that the students went through during the pandemic in continuing their studies online.
