MoUs Enrich Academic and Cultural Experiences

Laksamana College of Business (LCB) inked three memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Korean establishments yesterday at the college’s auditorium of the main campus in the presence of outgoing Korean Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Kim Soung-eun.

The three Korean university and establishments are Kyonggi University, SSimple Soft and Super Track.

LCB Chief Operating Officer/Deputy Principal Dr S Sivarajah in his welcoming remarks said the MoU between LCB and Kyonggi University laid the foundation for collaborative initiatives that will “enrich the academic and cultural experiences of our students and faculty with the key areas of cooperation which include the implementation of short-term study programmes.”

He said the efforts to enhance cultural exchange programmes and initiatives will significantly improve international language proficiency among the students and staff, promoting a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures.

“We will also work closely with Super Track for future programmes to provide invaluable exposure and learning opportunities for all participants,” Dr Sivarajah said.

Similarly, the MoU with SSimple Soft focuses on key collaborative areas that will benefit both parties and signify their commitment to providing students with a global perspective, diverse learning opportunities, and a well-rounded educational experience.

“We believe that through these collaborations, we can create a vibrant academic community that nurtures innovation and cultural understanding.”

Dr Sivarajah signed the MoUs on behalf of LCB. Signing on behalf Kyonggi University was Assistant Professor Dr Gihwon Kwon from the university, while SSimple Soft was represented by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Yujin Kim and signing for Super Track was its CEO Kyun Wi.

The MoU with Kyonggi University establishes a framework for mutual academic collaboration, cultural exchange, and enhancement of international language proficiency with the agreement focusing on creating short-term study programmes, sharing academic resources, and developing future joint initiatives that will benefit students and faculty from both institutions.

In the partnership with SSimple Soft, the college will design and implement short-term programmes for Korean students at its Brunei and United Kingdom campuses.

In addition, the collaboration will involve the recruitment of Korean students into regular programmes at LCB, as well as joint promotional and marketing activities aimed at increasing awareness of the educational opportunities available at LCB.

The agreement with Super Track also focuses on the creation of short-term study programmes and future collaborative projects with both institutions are committed to promoting and marketing these opportunities to Korean students, further solidifying LCB’s role as a global educational hub.

Dr Sivarajah presented certificates to students who participated in the KCB International Intensive English Programme (IIEP) Study Camp and KCB International Intensive Computing (SW/AI) Programme University Camp.

Dr Sivarajah presented the prize to the first place winner in the SW Artificial Intelligence Hackathon Competition.
