The Embassy of China to Brunei Darussalam yesterday donated 162 books on Chinese culture and various subjects to Laksamana College of Business (LCB) in a ceremony at the college’s library, marking a milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the college and embassy.
Ambassador of China to Brunei Darussalam Xiao Jianguo officiated the handover.
The Chinese ambassador, in a speech, said, “Books play as a major carrier of Chinese civilisation and culture.
“The donation of the 162 books in English language to the college covers China’s politics, history, economy, society, culture, science and technology, and literature.
“The donation is also to enhance bilateral relationship and cooperation. The embassy hopes to make continuous efforts with LCB to promote the communication and mutual-learning between Brunei and China, as well as enhancing cooperation in various fields.”
LCB Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Principal Dr S Sivarajah said the donation is aligned with LCB’s vision to provide students from diverse backgrounds with the best possible educational opportunities and learning support.
“This generous donation not only enriches our library’s collection, but also strengthens the cultural and educational ties between our institutions. It is a significant step towards improving our knowledge and understanding, nurturing personal development, and fostering international relations,” Dr S Sivarajah said.
