LCB prepares students for the real world
Laksamana College of Business (LCB) kicked off the Work Readiness Programme yesterday with presentations and other activities at its lecture hall.
A forum was held featuring LCB Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Principal Sivarajah Subramaniam, Golden Corporation Chief Operating Officer and business lecturer at the college Ang Swee Meng, and JobCentre Brunei Human Resources Head Qairawani binti Haji Yacob, which allowed the students to gain insights into the hiring process.
The Work Readiness Programme, which comes to a close today, is aimed at equipping the students with resume-writing and cover letter skills, better understanding of the importance of interpersonal relationships, and communication skills during job interviews.
Students are also given a chance to take a psychometric test to better understand the traits they possess and how they fit in an organisation.
The two-day event also features walk-in interviews for students to submit their job applications. LCB hopes the programme will prepare students for job hunting. “We hope to assist the right student to work for the right company. We want to develop and nurture relationship with the industry, by matching the right students to the jobs,” it said.
