Project raises awareness on herbal, cosmetic products
Laksamana College of Business (LCB) hosted Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in their community project on Thursday.
The ‘Herbal Products and Cosmetics Awareness Programme’ was a project conducted by a group of three Third Year Bachelor of Health Sciences (Pharmacy) students studying at UBD. They were Nur Amalina binti Aliudin, Amni Syahira binti Haji Bahrom and Haifa Azeerah binti Abu Bakar.
The event was conducted as part of an assessment for their major module in their fifth semester titled ‘Pharmacy Professional Development & Our Community 3’.
Dayangku Hajah Siti Noorsinah binti Pengiran Haji Mohd Arif from LCB was the guest of honour.
The aim of the Herbal Products and Cosmetics Awareness Programme was to address issues related to the use of herbal products and cosmetics while spreading health awareness among students and selected officers from the LCB.
The event’s objectives included creating awareness about banned herbal products and cosmetics; to educate on the issues of buying and consuming unauthorised herbal products and cosmetics; and to educate on the marketing regulations of herbal products and cosmetics in Brunei Darussalam.
The event saw educational talks, an exhibition booth displaying examples of seized banned products (traditional medicines and cosmetics) in Brunei Darussalam and activities including questionnaire distribution and games.
An educational talk related to the Safety and Regulations of Traditional Medicines was delivered by Nuralilawaty binti Ali, and another educational talk related to the Safety & Regulations of Cosmetics by Nur Azim bin Haji Matnor.
