Trip gives students first-hand UK experience

A GROUP of 10 undergraduate students from Laksamana College of Business (LCB) participated in the Synergy Alliance 2018 journey to the United Kingdom.

The group was accompanied by Senior Lecturer in Finance and Management related modules Mohd Norshahid bin Saharudin.

The LCB-UoC-KCB Synergy Alliance was part of the effort to impart LCB students with not only UK degrees, but also the UK experience.

As a major regional partner of University of Chester, LCB offers students the opportunity to visit one of the top ranked universities in United Kingdom, University of Chester (UoC) and Kensington College of Business (KCB) in London and experience the global influential centre of finance and culture.

The students were welcomed to the University of Chester where they proceeded to conduct workshop sessions facilitated by various academic staff and field expertise led by University of Chester Head of Business and Finance and Associate Professor Dr Connie Hancock.

The students were hosted to dinner with the Vice Chancellor of University of Chester and the Dean at the Historical Senate House in the university’s Park Gate Campus.

During the trip, the students participated in a research workshop session conducted by Dr Maeve Marmion and Dr Connie Hancock at the Churchill House.

One of the sessions saw Phillippa Hardie from an award-winning Career and Employability service discussing how the students can best develop as an individual and contribute to the business and community.

They were also joined by Dr Phil Smith who focussed on Retail Management as well as a lecture and practical session on Computer Science modules.

The next day, the group attended a reception and workshop session on Corporate Governance and London Business Environment by LCB and KCB Principal Ian Pirie.

The day ended with a closing ceremony where the students were awarded with certificates.

The trip served its objective and has provided the UK experience to the students who are pursuing the UoC First Degree and Master’s Degree programmes.

LCB plans to carry out the Synergy Alliance trip annually every December.
