Importance of ergonomically-friendly offices highlighted
A ONE-DAY workshop on ergonomics was recently held at Laksamana College of Business (LCB), aimed at creating awareness on how work affects people in their working environment.
It also looked into the development of solutions for the purpose of improving productivity, reducing discomfort and minimising hazards within the workplace.
The workshop was conducted by Mohamad Ghazali Masuri, a UK-trained senior occupational therapy lecturer with 15 years’ work experience under Universiti Teknologi MARA’s (UiTM) Occupational Therapy Department. He is the founder of the Traffic, Accident and Cognitive Ergonomics (TrACE) research team and is currently president of the Faculty of Health Sciences UiTM Alumni Association.
Mohamad Ghazali’s previous projects and clients include AirAsia, Airod Malaysia, McDonald’s, Firefly, Malaysia Airports Sdn Bhd, Lexus, Top Glove and Sapura Kenchana.
Three areas related to human capacity limitations, tasks and equipment design were explored during the workshop. Other topics discussed included contemporary practices and guidelines regarding seating and standing workstations, vibrations, and working with visual display terminals.
