Laksamana College, Pusat Ehsan collaborate for charity

HOSPITALITY students of the Laksamana College of Business (LCB) recently joined the Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam (Pusat Ehsan) and Kuwait Embassy Charity Bazaar.

The students were invited by Pengiran Datin Hajah Noraini binti Pengiran Dipa Negara Laila Diraja Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin, Executive Trustee at Pusat Ehsan. The students put together activities that would entertain the visitors and raise money for the organisation.

The activities organised by the students included games, henna art, lucky draw and a cooking class by Chef Luke. Participants were intrigued by Chef Luke’s 25 years of cooking experience that includes working with celebrity cook, Jamie Oliver, at the River Café in London and television appearances in the popular New Zealand cooking show Ready Steady Cook. Now in Brunei, Chef Luke is part of the teaching team at the soon-to-be-opened Chef School at Laksamana College of Business. The students managed to raise B$2,607 for the event. All the donation goes to Pusat Ehsan.

“The experience itself was really amazing,” said Dayangku Kamalin Hayati binti Pengiran Ali Zaakbah, one of the hospitality students. “I had the chance to experience being an event planner. I felt the struggle as well as joy while working on the event. Planning an event for a good cause is one of the best things that has happened to me this year.”

Another hospitality student, Hanani Bazilah binti Dr Haji Airwan added, “The planning stage is the most crucial part for any event. Coordinating the activities need to be done in great detail so that it is possible for the event to run smoothly.”
