Laksamana College inks deal with CfBT to improve English proficiency

LAKSAMANA College of Business (LCB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Training and Learning Centre at the Centre for British Teachers (CfBT) Education Services Brunei at the college yesterday.

Signing on behalf of LCB was its Director, Ian Pirie, while the Director of English Language Teaching and Country Manager for CfBT Brunei, Dr Greg Keaney, signed on behalf of CfBT Brunei.

Under the MoU, CfBT Brunei will be partnering with LCB to ensure the delivery of an international standard Academic English programme for all Level 2 students, culminating in the taking of an IELTS test with the first course set to commence tomorrow.

LCB students may be studying towards one of many qualifications, from Pearson BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Business to a Level 5 HND, the first step towards completing a degree in business, there is a need to ensure that students can meet the demands of the business course by increasing their proficiency in English.

The college’s Level 2 students will not only benefit from completing a BTEC Certificate in Business, but also gain a globally recognised qualification certified by IELTS and trusted by international employers and governments.

I am very much looking forward to seeing the fantastic results in terms of the development of Business English amongst our level two students,” said Ian Pirie.

He added that this course will be hugely advantageous for their students in both their studies and lives in general.

The Manager of the Training and Learning Centre at CfBT Brunei, Robert Tunnell added that they are thrilled to be partnering with LCB and bringing their Business English teaching expertise into this endeavour.
